We are currently shooting indoors in the school sports hall at TPS.
We shoot indoors on Tuesday evenings, 19:00 until 21:00 and Sunday mornings, 10:00 until 12:00.
The Annual club Indoor championships will be held over two days on Sunday 10th March and Tuesday 12 March.
Club members are invited to shoot a Portsmouth round on either day, but only their first round attempted will count towards the championships. This competition is open to all club archers (junior and senior) and is handicap based. There are trophies/medals for Gentlemen, Ladies and juniors. All scores submitted must be on paper scoresheets signed and countersigned by another archer.
Our winter indoor shooting season ends on Tuesday 26th March and the summer outdoor season starts on Sunday 31st March.
During the summer outdoor season we shoot on Tuesday and Friday evenings, 18:00 until 20:00 and on Sunday mornings 9:30 until 13:00.
ALL archers are asked to arrive for shooting sessions promptly and help set up the shooting range.
ALL archers should also help clear away the range before they leave.
Beginner's courses are run throughout the year by our qualified coaches on Tuesday evenings and cost £50 for 6 two-hour lessons. All the necessary equipment is provided – all you need to do is turn up.
Children over the age of 8 are particularly welcome on beginners’ courses, although those under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. There is no upper age limit.
The next course (the first course for the summer outdoor season) will start on Tuesday 30th April, places are available on this course.
The outdoor sessions are held on a Tuesday evening (6 - 8pm) on the main grass school playing field (weather permitting)
If you are interested in joining a beginner’s course then contact us by e-mailing: firstname.lastname@example.org
Please go to the Beginner's Courses page for more information
Bowmen of Petersfield has a number of Archery GB qualified coaches, including several Level One and Level Two coaches and one Senior coach. These coaches run the regular beginners courses but are also available to help any club member upon request. Coaching is normally on a Tuesday or Friday evening. If you want help with any particular issue with your shooting, or are just looking for advice then please ask.
We are running additional coaching sessions for club members this winter and spring.
This is a structured coaching programme specifically designed to help improving archers, and is part of the Boost Archery scheme from Archery GB.
Theses are run on Friday evenings (7pm until 9pm) in the Gym at TPS (far end of the main school building) and we hope to run one session a month for the next few months. There will be a target fee of £2 per session. Please arrive ready for a prompt start.
The sessions are designed to be of most help to novice and improving archers but are open to all. It doesn't matter how long you have been shooting, Juniors and Seniors are all welcome. So if you want to improve your archery then please contact us and come along!
The next session is planned for: Friday 15th March.
Further dates will be organised from April onwards, probably once a month, outdoors on a Friday evening.
Please note that these additional sessions are for coaching only, and are not normal club target sessions so there won't be the opportunity to shoot other than as part of the coaching programme.
These sessions are designed to help experienced archers. If you are new to archery then please go to the beginners section for further information about our regular beginners courses.
Both our indoor and outdoor shooting ranges are at The Petersfield School, Cranford Road, Petersfield GU32 3LU.
Indoor shooting is in the school sports hall which is the large building directly opposite the main entrance into the school site. The entrance to the sports hall is on the left side, facing the main school building.
Outdoor shooting is on the grass playing field in the far north east of the school site. Access to the shooting line is across the tennis/netball courts and via the small gate closest to the school boundary fence. Please do not go onto the grassed area from any other route once the archery range has been set up.
There is no access onto the school site from the Tesco footpath after normal school hours.
